When you are going to do something BIG – like build an eco-home – you look for inspiration. So, our family visited Hockerton Housing Project.

What a beautiful place. This is a view of the community’s homes built into a hill. The roof has solar panels and collects rainwater for filtering. The lake is man-made with a reed bed for a very special reason!

We had a tour of a house, the vegetable garden and community centre. We even walked up the grassy hill to look down on the roof of the long building.

Check out Hockerton’s extremely interesting website: https://www.hockertonhousingproject.org.uk

It is a wealth of information and you will see how it is possible to live sustainably from the Earth’s resources.
