Inspired by the B&Q advert: The Crack in the Pavement, the eco-team at Pilling St John’s Primary School began collecting seeds. And made lots of seed bombs to give away!

The children loved the idea that a crack in concrete was all that Nature needed to blossom. And that got them thinking……

The Lancashire school began The Seed Bank project. The children stored seeds and the information you would need to grow them. Then people could ‘borrow’ them (like a library) to plant in their own gardens or local area. Their aim was to encourage everyone to get growing and save the planet.

As a result, this project won the Green Entrepreneurs category for the North region in the:

Primary Awards for Green Education in Schools 2022.

Everything is going to seed just now so why not take a leaf out of their book and plant them to create a wildlife corner. 🙂
