… but Asda is showing the way with their sustainability stores. The company aims to remove 3 billion pieces of plastic from their own-brand products by 2025 and offer a wide selection of refillable products.
The supermarket has partnered with some of the UK’s most popular brands including Yorkshire Tea, Napolina, Tilda and Kellogg’s. They are offering their products in a refillable format to help customers reduce, reuse or recycle plastic packaging. Asda tested this concept in their flagship store in Leeds and found it was extremely popular.
Asda recently announced that four more stores will offer refills – Rugby, Milton Keynes, York and the Toryglen store in Glasgow.
We just wish Asda would be braver and offer it in every store. When only 9% of plastic is recycled globally, ALL supermarkets need to do something FAST.
