And Thomas Franklin is a social entrepreneur in his own right. Since the age of 6, he has been campaigning against plastic pollution. He entered his Gala Week fancy dress competition in a costume he made himself from plastic rubbish. His slogan was ‘The Sea is Not a Dustbin’ and went on to win it! Then he wore his outfit round the town, giving out his own badges with my his logo on them and asking for donations for the Devon Wildlife Trust. The mayor used this photograph at his meetings because he was responsible for local ’green’ issues.
Thomas is also CSO – Chief Scout Officer for Kids Against Plastic. He is working hard to make his friends more ‘Plastic Clever’ and helping more Scout troops around the UK to get involved!
