When Cameron gathered acorns on holiday last year, he decided to grow them in glass bottles. Imagine his excitement as he watched the roots appear and eventually the shoots and leaves.
At Christmas, an oak tree sapling was a fitting gift for his teacher, Mrs Leckie. For Cameron attends Stow Primary School in the Scottish Borders. The school has won many awards for their environmental work and their motto is: #WeAreTheChange.
Mrs Leckie wrote on the school’s Facebook page: ‘I’m so proud of you for having nurtured this little oak tree from seed and then given it to me for Christmas. You and I have kept a watchful eye on it in the classroom and now I can’t wait to watch it grow into a beautiful strong oak tree. Thank you for your kindness to me and to your planet.’
Great work, Cameron!
